We recently discovered this tool and boy, what a great help it is when flagging design changes, typos and other feedback during the design and review phase when building websites.

How it works

Firstly, sign up for a free account via www.markup.io.  Once you’ve logged in, enter the URL of the site you wish to comment on.  From here, use your mouse to hover over the area you wish to make notes on, click your mouse and post your comment.  Then, you’ll see a coloured number appear on the screen.

When you click the “comments” icon at the bottom of the window, it opens a side column detailing all of the comments that have been made, both active comments and those that have been resolved.

Who should use it?

Web designers or any marketing personnel involved in the design, management and content development of a website.  It’s also a great way to share web designs in development stage with your clients’ – allowing them to provide feedback in an easy and streamlined manner.

Is it life-changing?

Not really, but it does make the feedback loop a quicker and cleaner process.  For that, we give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Why you need to ask “Why?”

Every business is unique. What is right for one company is not necessarily relevant to another. When undertaking new marketing activities, always ask “why?”
